[News] Noor Muhammad decided to contest NALA Election 2009

Sources closer to Noor Muhammad from Hunza have declared his decisions to contest upcoming elections of Northern Areas Legislative Assembly (NALA). NALA is the Assembly of elected representatives of Gilgit-Baltistan but in its current positions it is nothing more than an advisory board for a non-elected chairman who is a Member of National Assembly of Pakistan the real ruler of the Gilgit-Baltistan.

Noor Muhammad is a self made personality well known in Gilgit-Baltistan for his services in the areas of social and community work, his role as a development professional with AKRSP and HOP Foundation, and his services at senior level government positions.  Noor Muhammad is considered to be one of the most popular candidates and various pools have shown him as one of the top three choices of the people for representing Hunza in NALA. We wish him best of luck for his political endeavours.

    “Keeping some one’s personal profile @ a distant, we need to think abt badly for a courageous, good educated, bold and visionary leader to lead our people / region particularly in current situations / scenarios. ,,,and that’s NOOR MUHAMMAD.
    We need to support him and make our people be convinced abt him,,,he is the real time demanded leader and a rationale choice for our region / area…..If we become blind again in selecting / electing the right person than we could,t be able to coup with current era / situations,,,and ultimately we would be lost again like previously. Now it’s the right time, in which we need to figure out to bring him at the front to lead our people. We need to think about it keeping ourselves above personal conflicts, area wise conflicts or other subsidery issues,,,to achieve a common goals/ objectives and those are:

    the selection / election of a visionary / true sense leader
    and
    betterment of our region / people.”

    It is not important for a political leader have experience of NGOs and social work. In Gilgit Baltistan thousands work with NGOs but they are not good politicians. We should look for political experienced people, we dont want mangers we want leader. Noor Muhammad may be a good administrator not a good politicians… look for others, I will vote for Mir, his fathers and grand fathers have also serve area.

    @Ibadat:

    Diversity in thoughts / idealogies based on rationale / logical grounds, are the real strength of a healthy civil society,,and we need to respect them.

    If v look @ the past political regime coming down from seventies,,,things are no more different, but it was acceptable to some extent,,because the time was different, during that regime there were scenerios were different,,but now things are entirely reverse,,,
    Based on current scenerios / globlization impacts,,,v need a person like Noor Muhammad. Mir is absolutelty not comptible with this current time.
    Let me tell you some thing,,every matured person is political,,,it,s a part of our daily life,,a good manager / administrator will definately be a GOOD political profile,,it,s a fact.

    V need to understand it and need to think about based on factualities not based on what his father’s contributions,,(v respect for that),,but v need to think of now and beyound.

    Noor Muhammad is a high figure in Gilgit-Baltistan. He is not only a good manager but also can serve as good politician. I do not agree with the views of my name-sake about his negative remarks on the competency of Mr. Noor Muhammad. Noor is a good social scientist and has a good understanding of the problems of our people and he can become a good leader to steering the poor population of Gilgit-Baltistan and we need leaders like Noor Muhammad in every sphere of life so that we could be able to eradicate poverty and corruption in our society. Noor Muhammad decision coming into politics is right one at the time …. Thanks
