[News] 34 Killed in a Raod Accident at Skardu-Gilgit Road


According to ARY News, At least 34 people were killed or went missing when a speedy coach skidded off the road and plunged into Indus River here Thursday morning.

The bus with 35-40 passengers on board was on its way from Skardu to Rawalpindi when it veered off the road near Malopi Rindu area and fell into the river as its driver lost control over the steering.

According to initial reports the accident was a result of the breaks-failure of the ill-fated bus. Locals and area police reached the accident site soon after and were carrying out relief activities.

Several precious lives have been lost in Past in similar accidents on this same road, often blamed on technical issues of vehicles running on the road. In fact, it is a very narrow and snaky road which needs to be widened, but the govt. responsible is careless regarding the value of the lives of the Skardu. People of the Skardu have continiously demanding for several decades to improve the condition of road, but who does listen them?
