According to the police officials (Gilgit) 27 personnel of Pakistan Army who were returning to join their duties in Baltistan after vocations in Punjab as all of them said to be citizens of Punjab died in a road accident where the bus skidded into the Skardu river. 7 civilians also died in the accident. An investigation to determine the cause of the accident is under way, however it is said that due to a sloppy and narrow road the bus carrying these passengers lost control and fell into the Skardu river. There were a total of 35 people in the bus of which 34 died and only the conductor escaped the death as he left the bus before the accident. The Gilgit-Baltistan Post shows its sympathies with the relatives of died individuals and highly condemned the negligence of ruling administration for not taking appropriate actions despite similar accidents had occurred several times in the past and people of the area are voicing it for a long time as it is the only link between Baltistan and rest of the world.
